About us

Welcome!

The Laboratory of Physical Chemistry & Chemical Processes (PCCP lab.) was constructed and developed by Professor I.V. Yentekakis, starting its operation in 2001.

PCCP laboratory is one of the 5 established laboratories of the Department of Sciences of Technical University of Crete (TUC). Nowadays, PCCP laboratory with excellent equipment, high technology infrastructure, highly active and productive faculty staff members, senior and young researchers, PhD or master students, and with distinguished international collaborations, testify to the high quality of the educational and research work conducted.

The focused research interests and objectives of PCCP lab are:

·     Synthesis of novel enhanced catalytic/electrocatalytic properties nano-structured and composite materials.

·     Structure, morphology, physicochemical characterization and catalytic performance evaluation of novel materials under selected reactions relevance to important technological applications.

·     Behaviour of surfaces and interfaces.

·     Promotion and its origin in heterogeneous catalysis and electrocatalysis.

·     Fuel Cells science and technology.

·     Hydrogen energy, biofuels, natural gas.

·     Environmental catalysis and pollution control.

·     Chemical and processes engineering.

The Technical University of Crete (TUC), one of the two Technical Universities in Greece, was founded in 1977 in Chania/Crete. TUC mission is to provide undergraduate and postgraduate studies in modern engineering fields, to conduct research in cutting edge technologies and to develop links with Greek industry. TUC, with a population of 3.100 undergraduate and 625 postgraduate students, comprises five departments (Production Engineering & Management; Mineral Resources Engineering; Electronic & Computer Engineering; Environmental Engineering; Architectural Engineering), which grant five-year course engineering degrees, and a Department of Sciences providing scientific support of the curricula. All six departments run modern postgraduate programmes with great emphasis on basic and applied research, which is conducted in 57 ultra-modern and well-equipped laboratories. This profile ranks the Technical University of Crete amongst the most prominent research institutions in Greece.
